As we left Hidden Lake I had to get one last photograph. There are never enough!
It's a quiet and peaceful place that sits about 9000 feet above sea level. It is designated a natural preserve where an almost extinct flower called the Hidden Lake Bluecurl blooms. Lakeshore access is prohibited without special permit. And the lake is rarely filled to this level.
We took the Palm Springs Tramway from the Coachella Valley desert floor to the Mount San Jacinto State Park some 6500 feet up to 8500. Amazing how the temperature plummets! On this day the desert floor was 112 degrees, but the mountain sanctuary was 72 degrees. Great for the mile plus hike to the lake.
