Description
This is an old entryway to a ranch in the high desert Walker Pass area of Kern County. Can't make out any name from the old rusting sign. But I can imagine what life in this area must be like. The changing seasons must be pretty rough on anyone daring to reside here.
Walker Pass is a scenic highway between Inyokern and Lake Isabella, California. It passes through small towns Weldon and Onyx where old ranch areas, dramatic mountains, and rugged desert collide.
Walker Pass was charted as a route through the Sierra in 1834 by Joseph Rutherford Walker, a member of the Bonneville Expedition who learned of it from Native Americans. Walker returned through the pass in 1843, leading an immigrant wagon train into California. ~ Wikipedia
