Lush desert plants with vibrant yellow flowers dot the landscape in the foreground, contrasting with the rugged, cloudy Sierra Nevada mountain range in the background. The weather is dynamic, as sunlight breaks through overcast skies to highlight portions of the scene, creating a dramatic effect. The Mojave desert between Bishop and Big Pine California is a place of extremes!
I caught this photograph as we traveled U.S. Route 395 in late October of 2023. Autumn was settling in and the colors across the desert were beautiful. The mountains were shrouded in mystery.
